The green room
The Green Room of Caffè Pedrocchi takes its name from the color of its upholstery. A color chosen to honor the tricolor flag and still preserved today.
According to custom, this room has always been open to everyone. A safe place where the less well-to-do could warm themselves up on cold winter days and stay without needing to purchase anything. This is where the Italian saying “essere al verde” (literally “to be in the green”, meaning “being broke”) originates.
Caffè Pedrocchi, open to art and music
Today this custom is maintained. A free Americano is offered to all students of Padua who wish to visit the café. This room is also open to artists and writers who wish to showcase their paintings or present their books here.
